Thanksgiving and Advent
On the Monday night after Labor Day our church had a terrible fire in the Fellowship Hall, which caused tremendous smoke damage. Finally we are almost finished with restoration. A special celebration of this was held on November 18.This was also Thanksgiving Sunday.
The first Sunday in Advent arrives on December 2. Numerous activities are planned as we prepare again for the coming of the Christ child. Please see the column to the right for more information.
Other activities are on-going. At the church, please consider taking part in out regular weekday activities:
Pastor Schmitt leads a meditation group every Wednesday morning at 9:00. Coffee and snacks are enjoyed afterwards.
Rev. Melinda Townsend leads a yoga group for an hour every Saturday morning at 8:30 in the Boulevard Room.
Our congregation continually collects non-perishable foods for the Jefferson County "Action Center." Put food items in the grocery cart in the Church Foyer. The final Sunday of each month is a "deadline" for that month.
Also, our Deacons and Trustees meet every second Saturday at 9:30 and 10:30, respectively.
There are currently no upcoming activities or events.
The Wheat Ridge Congregational Church of the United Church of Christ is a loving fellowship committed to following the Word of God through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The United Church of Christ has a somewhat liberal or open-minded reputation. The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957 by a merger of the Congregational Christian and the Evangelical and Reformed ("E & R") denominations.
Wheat Ridge Congregational Church is a relatively small congregation. However, what we may lack in membership size we more than make up for in enthusiasm, generosity, and Christian love.
